German Youth Championships 2024 in speed climbing on Burgplatz - City of Leipzig

The times are expected to be under seven seconds. The German records are just over five seconds for the men and just over seven seconds for the women. In addition, the German Alpine Club Leipzig section is offering a sports program in cooperation with other Leipzig clubs such as Slacknetz e. V. and Sportjugend Leipzig e. V.. In addition to speed climbing, there will be opportunities for young and old to get active themselves, for example on the slackline, with trial climbing or on the bouncy castle. "After 2023, we will once again be hosting this young and very dynamic sport in the sports city of Leipzig," says Sports Mayor Heiko Rosenthal. "I am convinced that we will continue to see a positive development of climbing in Leipzig in the coming years. We are ready to support this development in the future and give this sport a presence in the city. For 2024, I can't wait to see who will be the fastest to conquer the wall." Toni Werner, 1st Chairman of the Leipzig section of the German Alpine Club: "We want to build on last year's success, break records and gather lots of spectators on Burgplatz. We are expecting record-breaking times on the speed wall."

Castle Square
It starts at 9 a.m. with the Youth C training. This is followed by the qualifications and the finals. Youth B starts at 2 pm, Youth A at 5 pm.
