This is a celebration! - City of Leipzig

Residents and guests can experience three varied days with an extensive and multimedia live program. National artists such as the Zwingertrio with Tom Pauls, Steffen Lukas and the Plattenbauorchester will provide great entertainment. In addition to a vintage car exhibition, a historical fashion show, a small collection on industrial history and other surprises will provide a glimpse into the past. A parade of various fire departments, accompanied by the City of Leipzig's fire department orchestra, will also provide entertainment. Visitors can also find out more from over 60 exhibitors and associations, discover new things and get active, for example by using virtual reality goggles, letting off steam on a climbing wall or taking a ride on a 40-meter aerial lift. A special activity area with a stage has been set up for the little ones.

Travel to Mölkau by bicycle or public transport

Visitors who wish to travel from Leipzig, for example, should use a bicycle or public transport with the LVB bus lines 72 and 73, as there are only limited parking spaces. There are no central parking spaces available on site around the Stadtgut. The few spaces on Kelbestrasse are reserved for exhibitors' vehicles and local residents.

Historical background to the 700th anniversary celebrations

In 1324, Friedrich, Margrave of Meissen, gave three hooves of land to St. Thomas's Monastery in Leipzig. This place was first mentioned in a document under the Sorbian name Mykowe. Today, this is considered the birth of Mölkau, which has experienced an eventful history since then and has developed from a small village into a lively district in the east of Leipzig.
